Hello, Rob Grant
Rob has long held a fascination and passion for the history of the islands of Guernsey and Herm and spends most of his summers camping on the latter small island. In addition to his normal working life he has held many positions at the Priaulx Library, the islands main local histories research Centre, and is currently a Trustee and Chairman of the Priaulx Library Council, the body that owns the large historic collections, and is responsible for managing the staff, building and resources of the library, for the benefit of locals and visitors.
Rob's Story
Although Rob considers himself a proud Scot and spent some of his early years at school in Buckie, Northern Scotland, he has spent over 50 years living in Guernsey and has for a long time been considered a 'Local'. On leaving school he joined the British Army and spent eight years travelling around various parts of the world. Since returning to Guernsey, he has worked in the Finance Industry for over 30 years and is now semi-retired and enjoying the extra time off. With a long-held interest in local history, he completed his initial Bronze Accredited Guide course in 2024/25 and is now a Silver Accredited Tour Guide. Having joined tours at some incredible locations around the world, he now looks forward to welcoming you on any of his tours that you might find of interest and would be interested in hearing any suggestions for future tours.
